I hope the Newsletter finds
everyone well. We are about to get the leadership together, I think
that I am finished. Frank and Pam have their paperwork in and it
should be back soon. We have not started on Glenn and Marilyn yet
because all of their paperwork came back to be re-done. We will get
us an educator soon!
June is behind us, but we were able to get in two
rides! The first ride was to Fairfield and of course Sam's for
lunch. Along on the journey to Fairfield was Frank and Pam Lucas,
Olan and Regina Weaver, Michael Rowley and Dorothy Villa, Butch and
Carolyn Morris, Howard and Weedia Gay and Everett and Sandy
Wooten.
Early on the 25th, Frank and Pam, John and Janean
Anderson, Howard and Weedia Gay, Michael Rowley and Dorothy Villa and
Everett and Sandy Wooten took a little ride to Coldsprings and had
breakfast at Elaine's. The group spent some time on the square
shopping, as it happened it was trade day in Coldsprings. From
Coldsprings we went across the lake and road through Lake Livingston State
Park and then home.
Now that June, a very hot and dry month is over,
July is starting out to be even hotter! So, the moral is ride very
early or very late! If you happen to be out on the motorcycle watch
the heat on you and the bike and don't hurt either!

FYI: Carolyn and Butch
Morris have been good enough to offer a room at the Second Baptist Church
as an alternative to The Lakeside. We will have coffee available and
will all chip in with breakfast muffins, breads, etc. Meeting time
wil stay at 8:30 a.m. on the 2nd Saturday of the month as usual.

A LOOK BACK! This is a
poem written by our own Sandra Wooten about our troop. This was a
few years back, so some of the material is relevant to the time and what
was going on then, but some still applies now! It is well written
and we thought we would share it with you all again.
Ode to "F" Troop
Goldwing Road Riders
are we...
Riding the roads we're meant to be.
Two wheels below - The skies up high
All this is ours if we would only ride!!
Ride to eat -- eat to
ride
This we shout with great pride.
Although few meals we have missed
I really must insist
New places and dishes would be revealing
If we would just go two-wheeling!
Safety first is our
motto --
More alert than in our auto!
Always wear our sleeves, gloves and helmets too.
Without these we would be blue!
Check the tires,
fluids, lights & brakes --
Spend as much time as it takes!
Watch the rain, gravel, cracks, curves & swerves--
Don't let the 18 wheelers get on your nerves!!
Practice makes
perfect and that's a fact!!
Now we all know how to act.
Frank & Pam are
always ready--
a new experience to find.
Ready, willing & able to serve us
If it just weren't for the US Postal Service.
George & Jean
will always show
With the very latest joke you know....
George will have a picture of his cousin Mavis
And will be riding his "Harlum Davis"!!
John & Janean are
our leaders...
Sometimes even MAP readers!
Don't put John in front of the line--
Three or four back and he's just fine!!
Olan & Regina's
green Honda is sad & forlorn
As it quietly waits under cover and dust
While Olan blows the School Bus Horn!!
Glenn & Marilyn
are as happy as they can get..
But their two-wheeled Honda
Hasn't appeared yet!
Everett & Sandra
have retired -- Whoopee!!
Hondas purple and red are full of glee!
They stay in their garage & don't even run...
Seems there's just not enough time for fun!!
Facts are facts -- we
cannot hide...
Guess we need to just take a ride!!!

Something to Think About.......
I received this as an e-mail from a friend. It is
"A Cowboy's Guide to Life" and there are some excellent points
that are made and well worth remembering.

The Year is 1905...
This will boggle your mind.
I know it did mine! One hundred years ago... What a difference a
century makes.
Here
are some of the U.S. statistics for the year 1905:
The
average life expectancy in the U.S. was 47 years.
Only
14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub.
Only
8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
