News & Views from our CD

Here we go with a new year! I wonder what we can expect to jump out of the bag this time. The year 2004 was very wet for most of us and kept us from riding as much as we as we would have liked. Seems like we are not as brave as we once were. Maybe we are just getting smarter in our old age. Also, more of us are retiring and that should allow us more time to ride. Wrong! I don’t have as much free time now as I did when I worked full time. I suspect others are finding this to be true also. I hope that I can get my ducks all in a row this year and spend more time riding. I said that last year and it didn’t happen but maybe this year will be different.

We had a great Christmas party at the Woodbine. If you were not there you really missed a good time and a lot of laughter. What a great meal! It is always good, but I think I enjoyed this one more than the others we have had. Of course the gift exchange is always a blast. Frank and John always make this part especially exciting with their “friendly” competition. If you didn’t get to attend this year, plan on it for next year. You really miss out when you don’t attend.

Speaking of attending, remember that we are meeting at The Lakeside Restaurant now. It is located across the highway from McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and Texas Burger on Hwy 21.  I hope to see you there in January.

Let me state again: we are a family. When one hurts we all hurt. This year some of our members experienced the death of a parent and as a family our hearts go out to them. We need to enjoy our parents while they are still with us. It seems that all too soon they are gone.

Butch and Carolyn were involved in an accident with their bike while on a Chapter ride. No one was seriously hurt and for that we are grateful. Butch broke his clavicle and won't be able to ride for awhile but Carolyn just got bruised up. Maybe she can become the rider and Butch the co-rider until he gets better! The bike came out of the ordeal with only a highway board messed up and a little dirt that was easily washed off. They are already talking about taking a rider safety course. I’m going to take it when they do. Maybe some of you will want to take it again also. Think about it. Until next time.

In Memorium

We have lost loved ones this year who are family members of "F Troop".

We would like to remember the Mother of Janean Anderson, Vera Pharis, who passed away in October this year.

We would also like to remember the Mother of Olan Weaver, Iva Weaver, who passed away in December this year.

Our condolences to all family members.

 Happy Holidays!

December 3, 2004 found "F Troop" once again gathered at the Woodbine Hotel for our annual festive Holiday Celebration!  We had beautiful decorations, wonderful food and great camaraderie!

Our menu consisted of a really good steak, pecan crusted chicken, herb flavored potatoes, vegetables, salad and dessert of chocolate cake or banana pudding!  As usual, everything was just wonderful and the folks at the Woodbine were very a accommodating!

Those in attendance were Frank & Pam Lucas,  Mike and Dorothy, John and Janean Anderson, Olan and Regina Weaver, Sandra and Everett Wooten, Glenn and Marilyn Conner, and Butch and Carolyn Morris!  We exchanged our gifts via a Chinese Christmas exchange and several items were very popular.  Great fun!

Thanks to all in attendance for a really wonderful party!

This is a reprint of two MSF pamphlets.  Cruisin' Without Bruisin' and How to Choose a Helmet.  The information is not about wearing the helmet.  We all know the facts about wearing helmets!  So do what is right!

I've also included an interesting article concerning concealed handguns.

Be Safe!
