News & Views from our CD

Here we are again, late as usual.  Maybe things will get better as time goes by and some day I will be on time with my part of the newsletter.
As most of you know I have been having some health problems lately. I started retaining fluid and that caused other problems.  We still don’t know what is causing the fluid to build up but things have improved.  Because of the fluid I was very short winded.  The heat also caused me a problem.  I was afraid to ride the bike because of the way I felt.  While I am not ready for any long trips, I think I can handle short rides now.  All of this got me to thinking about Trikes.  Did I want to give up riding altogether? No! Trikes seemed to be a very viable option.  I wouldn’t have to worry about trying to hold it up and if worse came to worse Marilyn could probably get me and the machine back home. Now that is a scary thought but it could be done. So I have given serious thought to getting a Trike. But right now I think I can still ride the bike and plan to keep doing it as long as I feel safe in doing so.  However, it is good to know there is an option available if I ever need to make a change.  I am looking forward to a ride in the near future to test my ‘wings’.  Keep riding and be safe.

FYI:  I am still trying to set a date for the Group Riding Course.  It is looking like it will be sometime this fall!

This article was published in Rider Magazine, June 2001.  Mark Tuttle, Jr. was the writer.  The thing I found of interest was the way he was able to talk to this kid or "squid".  The last two paragraphs sum it up.  But I am not sure that this has anything to do with age.  In order to talk to ANYONE you must have a common ground if the dialog is to get anywhere.  As you read this you will find their common ground was as simple as the new helmet Mark was testing!

Corral Cafe'
by:  S. Wooten

Our regular meeting this month was very well attended.  We were proud to see the following members present:  George and Jean, John and Janean, John and Joyce, Sandra and Everett, Frank and Pam, Howard and Weedia, and Olan and Regina.  We were also very pleased to have new fo2lks visit from Kurten.  Danny and Sue Toland.  We are hoping they will want to come and be part of our group!!

After breakfast at the Corral, we traveled to Sandra and Everett's to look at and talk about their new motor home.  This lasted through lunch time, so we all went to the Texas Burger for a late lunch.  We enjoyed the day of food and visiting.

We would also like to welcome our newest members to F Troop.  Howard and Weedia Gay from Huntsville have joined us as they have recently purchased a Gold Wing.  We are so proud to have them with us and look forward to riding in the near future!!
